If you’re Māori and enrolling for the first time, you get an extra choice: General Roll or the Māori Roll? Choose the Māori Roll and you’ll be represented by the MP for your Māori Electorate. Choose the General Roll and you’ll be represented by the MP for your General Electorate. Your party vote counts just the same, so you get just as much say in who gets to run the country.

• Once you choose which type of roll to go on, you won’t be able to change for some time.
• Even if you choose to go on the General Roll, letting us know if you’re Māori makes sure you get a reminder about your right to change rolls in 2012.
